Singapore National Environment Agency Requirements for Decedent Import

NEA Import Requirements for Decedents

When importing a decedent into Singapore, you must comply with the following National Environment Agency (NEA) guidelines:

Import Permit

An NEA import permit is required before importing a decedent into Singapore. Apply through the NEA website at least 5-7 working days before arrival.

Death Certificate

Original or certified copy of the death certificate from the country of origin, authenticated by the relevant authorities.

Medical Clearance

Certificate of non-communicable disease (if applicable) or medical clearance from the health authorities of the origin country.

Proper Packaging

The decedent must be sealed in a hermetically sealed metal casket or approved container with leakproof lining.

Documentation

Complete shipping documents, airline clearance, and customs declaration forms (CN23/CN22).

Inspection Required

Remains will be inspected at Changi Airport by NEA officers. Ensure permits and documentation are complete to avoid delays.

Ship decedent via approved courier with proper documentation

Transfer to funeral director for final arrangements
